September 01, 2010 As of 15:30 today, all systems have been restored and everything should function normally. The highs and lows for today will be a little distorted because the weather reporting software went back online midday. Starting at midnight the highs and lows will encompass the entire day for September 2nd and so on. I actually won't know how the rain totals are working until we get some rain. I changed the pointers on the dials to black...hope these will be easier to see.
August 31, 2010 Inasmuch as the rest of the week is supposed to be without rain, I will be doing major software repairs. These repairs are designed to fix the problems with the totals relating to rainfall. The program finally decided to corrupt the rainfall database. Basically, I have to uninstall the weather software entirely, reinstall it and then redesign all the graphics for the three Country Meadows screens (Country Meadows, METAR and Wind Run).
August 21, 2010 Data flowing to MADIS and Mesowest. I added the link to Mesowest on the main page. If you like stats and charts, this is a good place to start.
August 13, 2010 I still don't know what is causing rainfall display errors. In order to display the correct values for the 24-hour and monthly rainfall totals, I am having to restart the program after midnight. In so doing, the counters reset and display the correct figures. There is no data corruption.
August 12,2010 Started uploading data to MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System). It takes a couple of weeks for data to start flowing through the system. For those of you who are familiar with how all this works, the station ID is DW5627. Once the sites are displaying the information, I will post the various links. This all takes place through the Citizens Weather Observer Program (CWOP). Click on the graphic below for additional information.
August 10, 2010 Relocated the anemometer today in an attempt to get a more accurate wind picture. Wind from north, south and east should be good. Wind from the west is partially blocked by the roofline. Homeowners Association regulations prohibit masts, so at present, I don't have a solution.
For those of you who like statistics and graphs, I have added a link to the Weather Underground site. See the Weather Related Websites for the link or click on the graphic below. All the data from the weather station is uploaded to it every fifteen minutes and compiled into tables and graphs.
July 31, 2010 Need to do some work on the running totals for rainfall. While the rainfall measurements are accurate and the current figure displayed is correct, there are occasional errors with the 24-hour total and the monthly total. The data stored is correct. This is just a display issue.
July 27, 2010 For those of you who have expressed an interest in the winds, I added a Wind Run. Here you will find detailed wind information complete with a graphic for wind vectors. To view it, click on the Wind Run button next to the Country Meadows button. This is also a gif image, so if the time is older than 15 minutes, you may need to refresh your screen.
July 25, 2010 Added this What's New page. In addition to discussing what's going on with the site, I will attempt to answer your questions. I also welcome any suggestions for the site. Just send me an email: brad@countrymeadowsweather.com
July 22, 2010 Added a running 24-hour rainfall figure. If you get up in the morning to check the site, this will give you the rainfall for the past day. The current rainfall figure is for the present day. It covers the period from 00:01 - 24:00.
July 20, 2010 Because this site started mid-month and mid-year, the statistics for monthly and year-to-date rainfall figures are delayed. Monthly rainfall will begin on August 1st. Year-to-date will not start until January 01, 2011.
July 19, 2010 In order to make certain you are viewing the current weather information, please use your browser's refresh or reload function when viewing the screen. The screens for Country Meadows Weather, METAR and the National Mosaic are uploaded as gif images. Your browser may treat these as just another picture and may not automatically update them. For the sake of speed, browsers try not to reload an entire page each time. Rather, they cache images and files believed to be unchanged and download only the new information. Country Meadows weather updates every 15 minutes. METAR's update fifteen minutes past every hour. The upload times are indicated on each screen. So, if the times on these pages are older, hit your refresh function and you should get the current screen.
July 18, 2010 Country Meadows Website goes online.
